Dani Schmidt (they/she)

Dani Schmidt is a neurodivergent, illustrator, painter, arts educator, and mother to her 5 year old daughter based in Amherst, MA and NYC area. She is currently an MFA student at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where she teaches fine art and conducts research. Her teaching style involves integrating trauma-informed pedagogy, and intuitive art making approaches. She graduated from UNH Manchester in 2013 with a BA in European History and also The Institute of Art and Design at New England College in 2021 with a BFA in illustration. She uses both analog and digital mediums to create narrative driven work with a heavy focus on landscapes and organic subjects. Dani considers herself to be a multidisciplinary visual storyteller, seeking to forge human connection through her art. Her research interests include; environmental conservation & activism issues, Comics Based Research, and botanical illustration. She devotes much time to her personal projects such as illustrations for books, fine art, murals and more. Her goal is to use her art as a function of storytelling - one of the most time honored and important traditions of humanity.

I think my interest in different mediums satisfies different parts of myself emotionally and artistically. Y’all might have noticed a change on my profile- I’ve got a new logo!
